ASSET INSPECTION

Any new item of in-service equipment carries a certain amount of risk related to its safety and performance. When clients purchase and install these new items, they need to be aware of how these potential risks may start affecting the business as a whole.

Vital Power's infastructure support services provide asset inspection services which cover all aspects of equipment including Switchgear and transformers. Vital Power also inspects building fabrics for integrity and provides written reports.

Site Inspection/In-Service Inspection

Once equipment is delivered to site Vital Power supervises various construction, installation and commissioning aspects to ensure the asset is properly installed, and is capable of operating within the safety conditions determined by the client's specifications, local and international codes and government guidelines. Including:

- Compliance with international safety standards European directives, governmental guidelines
- Minimising financial liabilities
- Identifying and limiting risk
- Assurance that products ordered and supplied meet the required specification

CABLE INSTALLATION

Vital Power has experience and capability to install power, control and fibre cabling including all types of containment systems. 

Our cable installation teams operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day throughout the year. All our Infastructure Support Service workforce is trained to the highest standards in cable installation methods and plant operation in line with our NERS Accreditation.

CABLE JOINTING LV-33kV

When a cable fails, someone, somewhere, loses their electrical supply. Vital Power provides a cable fault location service that includes:

- Taking full control of electrical safety
- Pinpointing the position of the fault
- Excavation (if required)

COMMISSIONING

DATA LOGGERS

Vital Power install Data Loggers on gas meters to enable the pulse output from the meter to be converted into data that can be used for accurate readings.

The loggers have an integral communications device that transmits data to a central point where  individual usage figures can be viewed, in turn this helps in the review of overall energy costs, identifying potential savings.

The loggers are installed and programmed by our fully trained and authorised electrical engineers without interruption to the gas supply. Once fitted the loggers effectively turn basic dumb meters into smart meters.

The information provided can be used to begin the process of full energy management resulting in cost savings and carbon footprint reduction.

I & C METERING

Vital Power undertake a wide range of Electricity Metering throughout the UK.

Our service includes the installation of single and three phase whole current and CT metering in both domestic and industrial/ commercial premises. We also install smart metering in the Sub 100 market.

In addition to MOPS and DNO work we also handle sub-metering for clients and can include the installation of sub metering, sub-mains wiring and associated isolation equipment.

This means customers can break down energy usage by department for review and a clear system of energy management where required.

We have a fully trained and authorised electrical engineers and provide national coverage for the installation and maintenance of metering. Our scheduling and administration is managed from our main office in Liverpool with support from our other depots.

INSPECTION & TEST

It is essential that power systems be tested on a regular basis to ensure performance. Site testing is the only way in which the protection and control interface can be proven satisfactorily.

Our experienced site engineering staff provides a full ‘hands-on’ test and commissioning service, in line with manufacturers’ recommendations, for all types of equipment including control and protection systems and switchgear.

INSTALLATION & CONSTRUCTION LV - 400kV

Our Infastructure Support Services workforce are highly skilled and experienced in the construction and maintenance of substations from LV to 400kV.

We carry out a full range of installation services from control cabling and relay works through to the implementation of high voltage AIS, GIS equipment, ring-main systems and private networks, including the supply and installation of switchgear, transformers, cabling and earthing.

Upon completion of all the installation works, Vital Power also undertake all necessary commissioning testing prior to energisation. We provide project management, resources for installation and commissioning and technical support.

MAINTENANCE

R.A.S.W.A NOTICES

Where Vital Power is required to provide Noticing, this is undertaken in accordance with the Roads and Street Works Act.

SITE MANAGEMENT

An individual project manager is assigned to every contract to ensure it is delivered on time and in accordance with the highest quality standards.

As principal contractors under CDM regulations, we give maximum priority to Health & Safety and Environmental Management issues.

STOCK MANAGEMENT

TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGY

Where utility services may be required to cross Network Rail infrastructure and overhead installation is not available Vital Power offers an affordable alternative, Trechless Technology.

Through Vital External Works trenches are drilled beneath the rail tracks' ballast to provide safe passage for Electric, Gas, Water and Comms cables/piping.
